Developed at a time when covered hoppers were becoming the prefered car for grain service, the distinctive size and low-sides of Pullman Standard's 4427 cubic foot capacity PS-2CD were quite a contrast to the 40-foot boxcars previously used. These cars could be seen in grain, flour and dry bulk service all across North America from the 1960s to the early 2000s.
