Tractor TIH 445 with crane hook

The TIH 445 mobile crane was initially developed as the T 159 (also MDK 16) in the VEB (state-owned enterprise) agricultural machinery construction "Rotes Banner" in Döbeln, Saxony, from 1970. The self-propelled and pneumatic-tyred T 159 work machine had front-wheel drive and rear steering. The slightly slanted driver's cab is installed between the front and rear axles and the drive motor is located above the steering axle, while a rotating device for the boom is installed above the front axle.

The necessary folding supports of the T 159 are mounted behind the front axles. Like so many vehicles from the GDR, the T 159 also uses the tried and tested modular system. The two axles and the steering with hydraulic power steering come from the IFA W50 truck. The main boom is mounted on a slewing ring made of a double row of steel balls, and the rotation is carried out by a rack and pinion swivel mechanism 230 degrees in the direction of travel. So that various tools can be attached, the boom, which is bent in the front part, is attached to the main boom in an articulated manner. This can be extended by one meter in five stages using an extension part.

The successor, the TIH 445, is based on the further development of the T 159 and was produced at the "Landmaschinenbau 7. November" in Craiova/Romania. The basic changes are the smaller front wheels and the supports that are now mounted in front of the front axles. Another improvement is the four-stroke diesel engine with direct injection.

The TIH 445 could be manufactured with the following optional equipment: load hook, grab base frame, digging grab, bulk material grab, tine grab, root crop grab, five-jaw grab, trench and foundation grab, round wood grab, mast and block grab, earth hole drill: Ø 250 x 1000 mm depth, Ø 500 x 2000 mm depth, reduction gear and hydraulic motor for drilling drive, rotary knob and grab extension.

The 1:87 model of the robust all-rounder impresses with sharp contours and perfect reproduction of the original and forms the basis for an excellent model series with different possible uses. Another noteworthy feature of this model is the filigree, fully movable articulated arm with opening gripper.

In addition, the articulated arm, which is equipped with functioning hydraulic rods, is mounted on a rotating plate like the original and can be rotated into different positions. The hydraulic supports on the undercarriage also boast realistically functioning hydraulic rods, which are even color-coded like the articulated arm. The fully functional and movable miniature leaves nothing to be desired and enriches every model collection with its many, loving details.
