Sports classic in elegant silver paint

It was the most popular version to order in silver paint - the BMW 1600 GT Coupé only had a short stay with the blue and white brand emblem on the top of the hood. BMW only left the 1600 GT Coupé from the Glas estate on the order lists for twelve months. With the takeover of Glas, the GT model was equipped with BMW technology in September 1967, so that the 105 hp BMW engine was installed as standard. And of course the radiator grille – as seen on the WIKING classic – was equipped with a BMW kidney grille and new taillights. Despite all this, the story remains remarkable: the Italian bodywork manufacturer Frua gave the Glas 1300 GT sports coupé in its original version presented at the IAA in 1963 all the aesthetics that a contemporary sports car needed. While deliveries of the first 75 hp 1300 GT began in 1964, the 1700 Coupé was launched in September - then with 100 hp and a top speed of 185 km/h. The most noticeable change in the glass upgrade: Due to the higher design of the engine, the hood had a flat scoop, which was used for all models from then on.
